Wong Siu-kan, 38, a senior member of the Luen Lok Tong triad society, had on one occasion taught the undercover officer about a 'power' believed to protect the body from harm by any weapon, prosecutor Walter Lau told the District Court.

Wong denies three counts of managing a triad society and one of acting as a member of a triad society.

Seven other defendants face a total of 24 charges, including inviting a person to become a member of a triad society, assisting in managing a triad society, common assault and conspiracy to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

'Wong allegedly tried to pass on the spiritual power to the policeman and fetched a chopper . . . then told him to take off his upper clothing,' Mr Lau said. 'Wong then struck the policeman three times in his stomach.'
