ON June 19, I went to visit my friend at Waterloo Hill Road .

There were hourly parking spaces along the side of the road. I parked my car in one of the spaces. There were two meters by that space.

One was at the front and the other was at the rear of my car. I thought the front meter, into which I fed my coins, belonged to my parking space.

So, when I returned to my car late, I was surprised to find a $200 fine ticket on the windscreen of my car for illegal parking even though the time on my parking meter had not yet expired. The meter behind my car, however, had expired.

What I'd like to find out is how do I know which parking space belongs to which meter? There is no number on the space or on the meter to indicate which meter belongs to which space.

Can the department concerned provide some markings to indicate which meter belongs to which space in order to protect the public from making such costly mistakes in the future.
