Traffic delays are expected this morning as container truck drivers stage a procession from Lok Ma Chau to Central in protest against a $40 cargo-handling fee.
A police spokesman last night warned motorists and the public to listen to the radio for the latest traffic bulletins.
This is the fourth time the truck drivers have demonstrated against the cargo-handling charge since talks between the drivers and mid-stream operators - who load and unload cargo - first fell through in November. Their previous protest last month caused serious traffic delays.
Twenty container trucks will start the procession from San Tin in Lok Ma Chau at 7am and move along Castle Peak Road, Tolo Highway, Shing Mun Tunnel, Cheung Pei Shan Road, Tsuen Kam Interchange, Texaco Road, Tsuen Tsing Interchange, Tsuen Wan Road and Lai King Flyover.
They will then proceed along Container Port Road, Lai King Flyover, Kwai Chung Road, West Kowloon Corridor, Gascoigne Road, Eastern Harbour Tunnel, Gloucester Road and Harcourt Road.
The truck drivers will gather at the Tamar site in Admiralty and then board a coach to the Central Government Offices to hand in a petition.
