Until Sunday.

You arrive with a few queries, hoping to get a clue to his tricks; you walk away with hundreds of them, scratching your head in wonder. That's what watching David Copperfield's show - apart from the fun of it - is all about.

This time the big question is how does Copperfield whisk himself and a young man away to a Jamaican beach in a split second via something called a portal?

But first it's two hours of illusions and sleight of hand.

This includes a card trick in which the entire audience joins in. Everyone is given a piece of paper before the show and told to cut it into eight pieces, one of which has the image of the moon on it.

The audience shuffles them for three minutes and it turns out that the moon card of all 2,000 people in the audience is the third one in the stack.

By now emotions are high, with the charismatic Copperfield playing the evangelist bellowing a 'hallelujah' and leaving the audience with the same old question: how does he do it?

Before the show he gives the impression that everyone in the audience will have a chance to be transported to Jamaica. But he later reveals that the person who will make the one-minute journey - a shy young man - has been picked before the show.

Despite this let down, people watching the pair via a screen on stage are left spellbound when Copperfield, apparently in Jamaica, brandishes a picture taken on stage minutes earlier.

One other thing leaves people perplexed - how is it he handpicks two little-known actresses from the audience to help him with two small tricks? It's hard not to be sceptical about such co-incidences. Still, the show is full of mystery and Copperfield's sense of humour adds to the enjoyment of the rapturous audience.
