It was unfair for the Government to give 'a big kiss' to Martin Lee Chu-ming whenever his Democratic Party supported one of its policies, but then get upset if the DAB opposed one, the DAB's chairman complained yesterday.
Speaking at a reception celebrating the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong's ninth anniversary - which was attended by Mr Lee - Tsang Yok-sing said even government officials viewed his party as pro-Government. 'Everyone says we are pro-government, even government officials take this for granted and think we are,' he said.
'So they seem to be very unhappy when we refuse to support just one in 10 of government policies.
'They are, however, overjoyed when a party, which is said to be anti-Government, backs only one in 10 policies. They can even hold Martin Lee in their arms and give him a big kiss. It is unfair.'
His complaints were made before dozens of senior government officials, including Financial Secretary Antony Leung Kam-chung.
Mr Lee, the only Democrat at the reception, said Mr Tsang had to expect tough treatment on the rare occasions the DAB disagreed with the Government.
