Grandma looks after baby during surfing holiday

First-time parents Kudo Shizuka and her husband Takuya Kimura have taken a well-deserved break by indulging in one of their favourite pastimes. The celebrity couple went surfing, leaving their baby daughter with her grandmother for a few days.

They have had little opportunity to relax over the past year, with the doting parents spending most of their free time with their child.

According to the latest issue of the Female Seven magazine, childbirth has had little effect on Shizuka's figure. She is as slim as ever and she recently appeared in an advertisement about how drugs affect pregnant women.

Ken Hirai's latest album, Gaining Through Losing, sold more than one million copies on the first day. It will be a dream come true when Hirai holds his first concert in October. He will prepare for the big day by staging a smaller event in Kyushu. With more than 20,000 people clamouring for 100 tickets, the local TV station has promised a live broadcast of the show.

Japanese star Ryoko Hirosue has had a series of unlucky breaks since shooting began in Tokyo for the movie Wasabi, directed by Luc Besson. According to the magazine, Friday, Hirosue forgot to take her purse and so could not pay for the taxi fare to the venue of a new drama show.

She had hoped to borrow some money from a helper on the movie set, but unluckily, shooting was cancelled that day. Therefore, Hirosue had to seek help from an local restaurant.
