A group of government disciplined services personnel visiting the mainland have been encouraged to enhance their knowledge of the country and widen their horizons.
Officers from the police, fire services, immigration, customs and excise, correctional services departments and the Scouts Association are on a week-long visit to Beijing and Xinjiang.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Management Dick Lee Ming-kwai encouraged the participants to promote the positive image of Hong Kong police among their mainland counterparts.
Mr Lee said the trip would also help boost ties among the disciplined services. The delegation will stay in Beijing for five days, then travel to Xinjiang to experience its culture and development.
Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Tang King-shing, who is leading the police delegation, said that they were looking forward to enhancing mutual understanding between the participants and mainland youths.
