United States officials believed the SAR Government had handled the Falun Gong issue and Li Shaomin's case 'very well', Secretary for Security Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee said. Mrs Ip, who is on an official visit to Washington, said in an interview with RTHK yesterday that senior US officials from the State Department were satisfied with the Government's handling of the cases. The visit was Mrs Ip's first official trip to the US since she took over the security portfolio three years ago. During the visit, she met officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration. She said both sides had exchanged information on law enforcement, in particular on how to counter cyber crimes. 'People smuggling, drug trafficking and money laundering are the areas [where] we had common concern. They acknowledged in these areas the Government has also done well in prevention,' she said. Mrs Ip is due to return to Hong Kong today.
