Music and drama performances provided the highlight of St Joseph's Anglo-Chinese primary and secondary schools' annual speech day, held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
Distinguished alumnus of the school Dr Lai King-yiu delivered the keynote speech at the ceremony. Dr Lai, who is president of the Hong Kong Public Doctors' Association, outlined the personal, educational and spiritual challenges faced by young people today.
After the presentation of certificates to the graduates, the audience was entertained with music and drama performances staged by the students.
Members of the secondary school orchestra began the evening's entertainment with a recital of Hallen Suite, composed by Collin Hand.
It was followed by a well-received production of the fable St George and the Dragon by primary students. All members of the cast demonstrated a good knowledge of English and impressive acting ability.
The crowd was also treated to a humorous rendition of Witch Goes Shopping by the secondary section choral speaking group, which gained considerable success at the 52nd Hong Kong Speech and Music Festival earlier this year.
