La Salle tops the list of 10 As scorers in this year's HKCEE
La Salle College has much cause to celebrate - for the first time in its 70-year history, the school has produced four 10 As scorers in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE).
'This is the first time we have produced four 10 As students in the HKCEE since our school was founded in 1932,' principal Brother Thomas Lavin told Young Post.
'All four of them are very fine students not only academically but in every other aspect.'
The top college in Kowloon Tong became the toast of the town yesterday after 'beating' other elite schools such as Queen's College (which produced three 10 As students this year), Diocesan Girls' School (two 10 As students) and St Paul's Co-educational College.
Chan Kwun-wai, 16, a science student, scored A(1)s in Chinese Language, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Additional Mathematics and Computer Studies and A(2)s in Putonghua, Religious Studies, Physics and Mathematics.
'I knew I was going to get some As, but I never thought I would get 10! Especially for Putonghua, because this is only the second year that the subject has been introduced into the syllabus,' he said.
