I WRITE to criticise the KCR Corporation's new ticketing system. From July 1, the corporation has discontinued its ticket machines for first class passengers and all first class passengers now have to queue up at the ticket counter to purchase their tickets. I use the KCR quite often - at least every other day - and I enjoy the convenience of this efficient means of travel. However, on July 1, when I went with my handful of coins to purchase my ticket at the first class machine, it had disappeared. I asked a KCR member of staff about this and he explained that from July 1, all the machines would only sell the new type of plastic ordinary class ticket and if I wanted to buy a first class ticket, I would have to get it from the ticket counter. Unfortunately, the queue was very long. I ended up having to queue for 15 minutes, just to purchase one ticket. It seems a very backward move to me, for the KCR to discontinue something which provided a useful service for customers. I have to pay twice as much for a first class ticket and was willing to do so, but if I have to queue for 15 minutes every morning, Idon't think I will bother anymore. I hope the KCR Corporation will consider the comments I have made and agree to bring back the first class machines. Y. CHAN New Territories
