I refer to the letter from J Dillon headlined 'Family not feeling safe in burglary blackspot' (Sunday Morning Post, July 15).
I am sorry that Mr Dillon and his family were the victims of a burglary and I can appreciate that it was a very distressing experience for all concerned. Police officers from Tseung Kwan O division have spoken to Mr Dillon about the matters raised in his letter.
Police are aware of the burglary problem in the Clear Water Bay area, which has been accorded top priority in the policing plans of the Tseung Kwan O division. Apart from frequent patrols by uniformed and plain-clothes officers, anti-burglary operations are also conducted from time to time in the area.
Meanwhile, police officers have been actively disseminating crime-prevention advice to residents, reminding them to ensure their homes are properly secured and to report immediately to police sightings of suspicious people or vehicles, or any unusual activities. Individual residents or management agencies should also make sure their security guards remain alert when they see strangers and note the details of vehicles entering and leaving residential complexes.
Members of the public who wish to discuss policing issues in the area or need any crime-prevention advice may contact the Divisional Commander of Tseung Kwan O, Choi Yuk-kwan on 2703 2201.
