The Min Chiu Society collection of Chinese art is dedicated to the appreciation and preservation of traditional Chinese art.

Chinese history includes many examples of collecting by emperors, aristocrats and scholars, and Hong Kong boasts many private collectors who have sustained a lifelong interest in Chinese antiques. These collectors established the Min Chiu Society 40 years ago.

Through collecting and academic exchanges, the society continues to refine members' skill and appreciation of Chinese art.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary the society has collaborated with the Museum of Art for the 'In Pursuit of Antiquities: 40th Anniversary Exhibition of the Min Chiu Society' featuring 245 works selected from members' personal collections.

Exhibits include paintings and calligraphy, bronzes, jade, ceramics, gold wares, glassware, lacquer, snuff bottles, enamel and furniture.

Pieces on show date from as early as 2200 BCE to the Qing dynasty (1644-1911 CE).

The exhibition is now on display at Hong Kong Museum of Art until August 26.

It opens daily from 10 am to 6 pm except Thursdays when the museum is closed.

Admission is $10 and $5 (students). For enquiries, please call 2721 0116.
