Director Wong Kar-wai (left) has signed a contract with leading Korean television station SBS to produce a 100-episode drama series over the next six months. It will be based on the stories of 26 women in Asia. At US$20 million (HK$155 million) it is believed to be the most expensive Korean television production ever. According to reports, Wong will be using a mixture of actors and directors from Hong Kong, China and Korea. Some of the stars for the series will include the award-winning Maggie Cheung Man-yuk, Carina Lau Ka-ling and Korean star Kim Hee-sun (Bichunmoo). Wong says that getting talent from all over Asia will help raise the production standards of television production. The director will also be killing two birds with one stone as the next phase of principal photography for his latest film 2046 is scheduled to resume soon in Korea withJapanese star Takuya Kimura who is able to take time off from his Japanese commitments.
