Internet exam scam exposed
A man, 36, was arrested by the ICAC yesterday for allegedly selling bogus Microsoft Professional Examination papers on the Internet.
The anti-graft body's investigation revealed that the man was operating the Web site ez2mcse.tripod.com, on which he claimed he was a teacher at a computer school and had the latest questions for the exam for sale at US$35 (HK$275) to US$450 a set. The exams are recognised as professional qualifications for information technology workers.
'We are computer teachers at a computer school in Hong Kong - please don't ask which school,' the site says.
It then offers exam questions for sale. 'We believe you can earn your qualification within a short period with them.' it adds.
The bogus exam questions were then sent to buyers on computer discs.
It was alleged the suspect received 60 orders from Hong Kong and overseas, making a $72,000 profit from the transactions.
