The theory that Cheung Kong (Holdings) masterminded Monday's purchase of a Hunghom commercial site has gained momentum with the woman representing the mysterious buyer revealed to be an employee of the developer.
The woman who represented Sino China Enterprises, which paid HK$1.09 billion for the site, is a manager in Cheung Kong's administration department.
Sources said the woman, Anita Pau, worked at Cheung Kong handling internal administrative matters.
Ms Pau has no involvement with the property business.
However, Cheung Kong's reluctance to disclose its involvement in the purchase has bewildered the market.
Analysts said it was probably due to the company's ongoing talks to buy Kowloon-Canton Railway Corp's (KCRC) share in The Metropolis, next to the auction site.
