Use of beef fat will offend some customers

After reading the article about how difficult it is to get vegetarian food in Hong Kong (Sunday Morning Post, July 29), I was shocked and disgusted to find out that McDonald's uses 'pure beef tallow' to cook its french fries.

I am not a vegetarian, nor do I have any reason not to eat beef, but I feel many customers will not know about this use of beef fat. What about those people in Hong Kong who do not eat beef, either for religious reasons or because they are vegetarians? With some religions, it might be considered a grave sin to eat beef.

There must be many people who thought they were eating food cooked in vegetable oil.
