The game ain't over 'til the fat lady sings and it appears the management and pilots of Cathay Pacific Airways are dancing to different tunes.

Management seems to have adopted an 'if we ignore it, it'll go away' approach while pilots seem to have chosen the 'petulant child' strategy.

The losers here are the passengers, extraneous staff and the airline's good name.

All the excitement started back in June when the pilots decided to vote for industrial action.

There followed a brief spell of turmoil until the management decided enough was enough and employed their 'Strike? What strike?' initiative.

During the carrier's annual results announcement earlier this month, James Hughes-Hallett, Cathay Pacific's chairman, claimed the industrial action by the airline's pilots was 'effectively over'.
