New releases

The Animal (IIA): Rob Schneider plays inept wannabe cop Marvin Mange. A car crash leaves him at death's door or, rather, the doorstep of the mad Dr Wilder (Michael Caton), who pieces him back together with animal parts. His new sensory perceptions get him into the police force and the heart of Rianna (Survivor's Colleen Haskell). There are plenty of misses to go along with the hits.

Driven (IIA): Director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger) takes the controls and, with Sylvester Stallone (who wrote the screenplay), plumbs every cliche to curse the action genre. Young gun Jimmy Bly (Kip Pardue) sets his sights on the CART auto racing title. When veteran driver Joe Tanto (Stallone) is brought back to teach the kid how to win, the film goes from bad to worse. For rev heads only.

A I: Artificial Intelligence (IIA): This dark fable about love and mortality is set in the future. Professor Hobby (William Hurt) develops a robot, David (Haley Joel Osment), with the ability to love.
