I refer to the report, headlined 'Pointy-toed fashion victim teeters on brink of disaster' (South China Morning Post, August 17), regarding Consumer Council health warnings that pointy-toed shoes can cause crippling disfigurement.
I have worn stiletto 'pointy' shoes with heels of 10cm upwards since the age of 15, and there is nothing wrong with my feet.
In fact, as those who know me will testify, my average heel height is 12.5cm for daily wear.
I do not teeter. The shoes are not painful. In fact, they are very comfortable. Why? Because I buy shoes which fit.
As a Westerner, I do agree it is difficult to buy shoes in larger sizes in Hong Kong. However, there are ways of getting decent shoes which do fit.
One final point. In my opinion, a nice pair of heels compliments a woman's style, and it is a shame that so many choose to wear clumpy heels or flatties, which detract from a stylish outfit.
