Yu, the famous seafood restaurant at the Hotel Inter-Continental (previously known as The Regent), will start serving lunch as of September 3. Like Plume and the Steakhouse Bar and Grill, two of Yu's sister restaurants at the hotel, it was originally open for dinner only. Guests can enjoy a two- or three-course lunch, starting with an appetiser buffet of fresh oysters, seafood and salad. A made-to-order main course selection includes paella, squid ink linguine with sauteed baby cherrystone clams and teriyaki scallops, and braised Tasmanian salmon on wasabi creamed potatoes with coriander sauce, while meat eaters can enjoy pan-roasted spring chicken or grilled US sirloin with market vegetables and baked potatoes. The set lunch is $220 plus 10 per cent for two courses and $250 if you also want dessert. The price includes fresh juice or a soft drink plus coffee or tea. The Hotel Inter-Continental has also expanded its by-the-glass selection of wines, which are available at all the restaurants and in the Lobby Lounge. The selection includes rare wines such as La Strada Reserve Chardonnay from New Zealand, La Crema Russian River Pinot Noir from California, as well as fine Bordeaux and Burgundy. For information call the hotel on 2721 1211. The American chain of Ruth's Chris Steak House, which already has a branch in Tsim Sha Tsui East, is scheduled to open another restaurant in the SAR. The new Ruth's will open tomorrow (September 1) in the Lippo Centre, where the old LA Cafe once was (it has since moved to the Far East Financial Centre). The restaurant specialises in USDA prime steaks, but also serves other meats, as well as seafoods. The branch in Lippo Centre seats 150, with two private dining rooms with a capacity of 16 each. Ruth's Chris Steak House is at G/F, Lippo Centre, 89 Queensway. Tel: 2522 9090.
