Warrants were issued yesterday for the arrest of a couple linked to an alleged $600 million letters-of-credit fraud.

Siu Hon - also known as Han Xiao-jin - and his wife, Wang Wei-xing, were arrested by the Independent Commission Against Corruption late last year and were subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries.

But they failed to answer bail in March and June.

Eastern Court magistrate Henry Mierczak ordered the $50,000 bail of Siu and the $30,000 bail of Wang - both directors and shareholders of EFD Investment and Trading Hong Kong Co Ltd - be forfeited.

The ICAC released photographs of the pair yesterday and appealed for information on their whereabouts.

Investigation of the couple started after a corruption complaint alleged they had offered advantages to senior bank staff as a reward for facilitating the letter of credit fraud.
