Chekov's Shorts , performed by Theatre Smith-Gilmour from Canada, is set during a train voyage across Russia, and tells the stories of four passengers.

It will be staged in the Studio Theatre at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre at 8 pm from September 21 to 23. There will be a matinee performance at 3 pm on September 23.

Tickets priced at $150 and $100 (students half price) are available at Urbtix outlets.

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPO) will present Peter and the Wolf and other Popular Classics including Brahms' Academic Festival Overture , Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf , Mozart's Flute Concerto No1 in G  K313 , and Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra .

All pieces are narrated in Cantonese by Emily Mok and Henry Poon. The performances will be staged in Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium at 8 pm on September 21, and Yuen Long Theatre Auditorium on September 22.

Leung Kin-fung and Cheng Wai will perform the music of Stravinsky, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Ysaye and Hubay in the City Hall Theatre at 8 pm on September 19. Tickets priced at $110 and $70 (students half price) are now available at all Urbtix outlets.

Ngai Kwun-wa, pictured, will performa a recital in the City Hall Theatre at 8 pm on September 20 using his treble banhu, zhonghu, alto banhu, erhu, gaohu and jinghu to perform songs unique to various Chinese provinces.

Programmes include Hua-Bang-Zi  and The Beautiful Young Girl  with treble banhu (northeastern), A Song of Praise  with zhonghu (Mongolian), Spring Comes Early, Shadow Puppet Tune  and Paizi Qu   with alto banhu (Henen, Hubei and Shaanxi Opera), Spring in Jiangnan and the Grapes Are Ripe  with erhu (Xinjiang), The Lament of Two Stars  with gaohu (Guangdong), and Erhuang Xiao-Kai-Menr  (Beijing), and In the Deep of the Night with jinghu.

The ancient Greeks imagined the sun as a God pulling the sun across the sky behind his chariot; eclipse records kept by the astronomer priests of ancient Babylon are so accurate that scientists use them to correct modern computer programs. Galileo was the first person to point a telescope at the stars and he found the sun was spotty - not the flawless orb decreed by dogma.

See for yourself at the Omnimax show 'Solarmax', where visitors can experience the power and beauty of the sun in a way never seen before.

Audiences can learn how the views of Aristotle, Copernicus, Galileo and Kepler were both right and wrong, and how each successive solar explorer dramatically changed the world's view.

It is still on display until September 30 at the Space Theatre, Hong Kong Space Museum at 1.30 pm, 5 pm and 8.30 pm daily, except Tuesdays.
