Ocean Chan Hoi-kei is one of the most famous disc jockeys in Hong Kong. Her RTHK2 show, The Sky Trick, was extremely popular, and her recent and sudden resignation from the station provoked a furore in the media.
Where are you most likely to be at 10am on a Sunday? Sleeping at home.
Where are you most likely to be at 10pm on a Friday? Until recently I would have been at RTHK waiting to do my show.
Where do you go to escape in Hong Kong? Thanks to my mobile phone and pager, no matter where I go I can't really escape.
How do you relax? I go to Bangkok. I think people there are a lot nicer than here. The standard of living is not that high in Thailand but at least people appreciate what they have, and are therefore, happier. Their smiles look more sincere.
Why do you call yourself Ocean? 'Hoi' in Cantonese means ocean. When I was working in radio, somebody gave me this name. I like Yoko Ono and Yoko means 'ocean child', so I think this name suits me.
