The annual British Film Week is back with five main features, short films and animated features. Presented by the British Council and sponsored by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, British Film Week promises an alternative to mainstream cinema. Featured films include Captain Corelli's Mandolin, starring Nicolas Cage, Penelope Cruz and John Hurt; About Adam, featuring Kate Hudson and Frances O'Connor; Blow Dry, written by Simon Beaufoy, the writer of The Full Monty; and Last Resort, directed by Pawel Pawlikowski, who is being touted as the most promising newcomer to British film.
