MARINTEC China - the largest international maritime exhibition and conference - will be held in Shanghai between December 7 and 10 this year. The event, which will be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, is organised by the Seatrade Organisation in Hongkong and the Shanghai Society of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (SSNAME). The event is also supported by China State Shipbuilding Corp, the China Ocean Shipping Co (COSCO), China SNAME, the Ministry of Communications, the equipment & technical department of the Chinese navy, Shanghai Jiaotong University, the Royal Institute ofNaval Architects and the Institute of Marine Engineers. Delegations are expected from Germany, Korea, Japan, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and the UK and individual exhibitors from Hongkong, Singapore, US, France, UK, Canada, Belgium, Italy, India, Australia and Croatia. The organisers said bookings from three Australian fast-ferry builders reflected the current boom of fast craft in China. High-speed ferries are being sought by Chinese companies and authorities to provide cheap transportation.
