Magic show to capture spirit of Halloween in Hong Kong

This Halloween the Leisure and Cultural Services Department is planning an entertaining magic show, 'Magical Halloween - The Crazy Scientist', which will be staged in the City Hall Concert Hall at 8 pm on October 11 and again on 12.

Artists include Rudy Coby, from the US, who plays the Crazy Scientist, Nelson Chang from Canada - the Mad Scientist - and Hong Kong's own Prince Wong, who is Dr Science.

Tickets at $160, $130 and $100 (students half price) are now available at all Urbtix outlets.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Airport Authority will present 'Lantern Exhibition and Cultural Performances at the Airport' to be staged at Hong Kong International Airport passenger terminal until October 14. The series of Mid-Autumn lantern displays and traditional Chinese cultural performances will be staged to promote Chinese culture and customs. Inquiries on 2591-1340.

Acclaimed Russian pianist Andrei Gavrilov, pictured, is coming to Hong Kong to perform two recitals with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall at 8 pm on October 12 and 13.

Under the baton of Libor Pesek, the programmes include Dvorak's Carnival Overture, Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini and Beethoven's Symphony No 6 Pastoral.

The dance theatre work October Red is the latest creation of Mui Cheuk-yin, associate choreographer at the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC).

Mui explores the heart of femininity through images depicting the pain, maturity and enigma of womanhood in a performance enhanced by duotone scenography.

The recital will be staged in Hong Kong Cultural Centre Studio Theatre at 8 pm from October 12 to 13, and at 3 pm on October 14.
