I think the public should consider who is responsible for the community's negative-equity problems before firing their shots at the Government and demanding unrealistic assistance.
There are four culprits for their present situation: the property developers, who inflated property prices in their own best interests (and are still doing so); the former colonial government, which boosted this unrealistic mode of economy; the banks, which knowingly granted mortgages; and the people who bought the properties.
If we look at the global economy, there is not a single strong economic entity that relies on its property market. They all grow on tangible assets such as industries, trade, services, banking, etc.
The property developers have been eating into our flesh all these years, and we should put this to an end. Why don't negative-equity victims go to these people for help? After all, the bulk of their money is already in the pockets of the property developers.
