A hung jury was declared last night in the trial of a man accused of child cruelty. Family friend Tin Kam-ming, 25, denied ill-treating or neglecting Lau Man-tik, three, at the boy's home in Sau Mau Ping Estate on May 8 last year by forcing him to kneel on a stool on a mahjong table. The jurors were unable to break a 4-3 deadlock after six hours. Tin must now wait for the Department of Justice to decide whether it will proceed with a retrial. He was released on bail.
