Jancula set to make South China debut
South China have finally signed Slovakian striker Martin Jancula after weeks of delays. There had been problems signing the talented 28-year-old from top Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava with rumours rife that Jancula's club had demanded a $200,000 transfer fee.
But South China team director Peter Leung Shou-chi said Jancula's transfer had been ironed out and that the towering Slovakian would finally make his way to the SAR on November 1.
'Everything has been sorted out and Jancula is looking forward to returning to Hong Kong. He liked playing here and he showed he was a considerable asset when he played for Instant-Dict last season,' said Leung. 'There are no problems with his transfer and he will stay with us until the end of the season.'
It was not clear whether Jancula had played any games with Slova Bratislava, who finished runners-up in the Slovakian first division, but his signing is a relief to Leung, who has been trying to sign Jancula for more than two months.
Leung had stated that Jancula's initial problems had 'nothing to do with money' and that he was confident that he would eventually be signed despite the initial delays.
Jancula was an instant hit when he played for now-defunct Instant-Dict last season, scoring 10 goals in a three-month stint that saw him play a big role in helping Instant-Dict win the FA Cup and finish second in the league.
