Pearl, 9.35pm
Monster-lovers rejoice. Director Stephen Somers returns to the old 'beastie on the loose' formula with Deep Rising, and a few half-decent performances help save the day. The under-rated Treat Williams (above) stars as a boat owner hired by mercenaries to take them out to sea. What he does not know is they plan to rob a luxury liner called the Argonautica. What he also does not know is it's already been hit - and hit hard - by a nasty, deep-sea beast.
When they board, Williams and the bad guys find death and destruction and then have to fight their way out. The beast looks dodgy, the script sounds dodgy, but it's all a bit of harmless fun. (1998)
