I refer to the letter from Catherine Ng of the Citizens Party headlined 'India's buses also have noisy broadcasts' (South China Morning Post, October 30).
The only buses that have such broadcasts are what are known as 'tourist coaches'. In other words, they are the long-haul buses that travel between cities and between states, not the buses that run within a city.
People actually have a choice. They can simply choose a different travel company. I do not know a single bus company in India that has a fleet with noisy broadcasts.
As far as the 'anti-TV-in-bus group' is concerned, I would ask them to hold a rally, so we can actually determine the exact size of their support.
They could then start a petition campaign (to be sent to the Government) and we could find out exactly how many signatures they could get.
