I refer to the comments made by Andy Ho in his column (South China Morning Post, November 6), and the response from a number of your correspondents, regarding Hong Kong's apparent lack of postal codes.
Hongkong Post does use a postal code system to identify addresses. The SAR is divided into 16 postal delivery zones, each of which is then subdivided into numerous delivery rounds. The result is that each building in Hong Kong (and sometimes individual floors within a building), has a unique code which can be attached to the address for extra accuracy in delivery.
We have found this a great help when posting large numbers of items each month, as it greatly cuts down the number of items returned due to insufficient address.
It would be equally useful for people posting to addresses often confused with another address.
