1962: Hong Kong plastic manufacturers exported a record $1 million-worth of goods a day in the first nine months of the year. About $102.8 million-worth of plastic toys and $146.7 million-worth of plastic flowers were exported.

1964: Alfred Naccache, the former president of the Republic of Lebanon, arrived in Hong Kong on his way to Taipei for a visit at president Chiang Kai-shek's invitation.

1966: Two outdoor film sets at Shaw Brothers Studios in Clearwater Bay Road, Sai Kung, costing more than $350,000, were gutted when a grass fire swept down a hill behind the studio.

1968: The samurai swords of the Japanese naval and military commanders who surrendered in Hong Kong in 1945 were on display in London.

1974: Two hundred artificial eyes were made available to Hong Kong's blind through a donation by a retired ophthalmologist in the United States. The eyes could be fitted like large contact lenses and were invaluable for restoring the confidence of the partially blind and disfigured.
