South African ace Robbie Fradd poses in the winner's circle after guiding hot favourite Electronic Unicorn to victory in yesterday's Chevalier Cup at Sha Tin. Despite carrying topweight, Electronic Unicorn won easily for trainer John Size, who is now looking forward to more success in next month's Hong Kong Mile. 'He's going to be right there. Everything is going in the right direction,' a delighted Fradd said after his victory.
There were a few anxious moments for the five-year-old after he was caught behind runners at the 300-metre mark. But Hong Kong's second-highest rated horse found a way through and was eased up by Fradd with 50 metres to go.
'He is probably as good as Hong Kong people are hoping he is - it's not easy to do what he did today. Horses like that, carrying so much more weight than the rest of the field, they usually get beaten,' a delighted Size said.
In yesterday's Sprint Trial Trophy, All Thrills Too staked his claim for a berth in the Hong Kong Sprint on International Day with an authoritative win over Solid Contact.
Trainer David Hayes said the horse deserved his chance on the big stage. 'I think he would be a very good candidate for Hong Kong,' he said. 'He's won his last two now over the straight 1,000 metres in fast times and I still don't really know how good he is. Every time I ask him to do something more, he improves again. He's a super horse to train.'
