Electronic marketing and messaging company Xpedite Systems plans to dominate the China market from Hong Kong and diversify into the banking, travel and publishing industries.

Facing keen competition from industry giant AT&T and new regional players, the company says it is strong, with more than 30 per cent market share.

'Many companies are fascinated by our growth. It is a pretty good result, especially for an American company, to dominate internationally,' said Dominic Cusk, Asia vice-president.

'We have been successful in the market basically because we deliver customised information immediately for them 24 hours a day. We compete with many big companies and we compete very well because we are entirely focused on the services. There are so many companies, that even I have not heard of, claiming they have domination over the market with 70 clients.

'We have over 3,000 clients. We are quite a low-profile company but dominate the market with quality of service, understanding of individual clients and customising their services.'

The company, as a unit of PTEK Holdings which went public in 1995 , provides Internet and fax-based document distribution and messaging services, processing more than seven million documents a day. Clients include Boeing, Bank One, Marriott, Xerox and Chase Manhattan.
