English jockey Tony Culhane is set to cut short his disappointing stint in Hong Kong and return home following tomorrow's Sha Tin meeting. Culhane is understood to have submitted an application to the Jockey Club's Licensing Committee for an early release from his position as a Club jockey, but the committee has yet to consider the matter. His contract is scheduled to be completed on December 17 after the International meeting. Culhane is believed to have cited a lack of opportunities and poor support from owners and trainers as the basis for his decision to leave Hong Kong early. The jockey rode three winners during an initial two-month stint at the tail-end of last season, but he has struggled to get good mounts this term and his only winner has been Cyber Wisdom for Andy Leung Ting-wah at Happy Valley on October 31. He has three rides tomorrow.
