SUCH a pity King Baudouin of Belgium wasn't informed that Wharf chairman Peter Woo would be in Europe last week. He could then have invited Peter and his wife Bessie over to the palace in Brussels and done the honours himself.
We are talking about the Order of Leopold, one of Belgium's highest awards, which has been bestowed on the Wharf boss by the King for being supportive of Belgium culture in Hongkong.
So now it's been left to the majestically named Gaston Van Duyse-Adam, Belgium Consul General, to carry out the formalities at his Peak residence which, despite it's minimalistic ambience (Gaston is a great lover of art, you understand) is no substitute for the magnificent royal abode in Brussels.
Still, there's no reason why Gaston can't at least rise regally to the occasion by wearing a gown and crown to conduct the investiture.
