The Letters column in Young Post saw a rise in both the number of contributions received as well as the quality of writing last month.
Selecting the letter for November proved to be a tough job. Nevertheless, we are delighted to announce that there are two winners, instead of the usual one.
They are Rachel Lee Ling-sum from Carmel Secondary School and an SKH Lam Kau Mow Secondary School pupil pen-named Irene.
The Young Post editorial team had a heated debate over who should win the letter of the month award, and it was eventually decided that both deserved the honour.
Published on November 5, Ling-sum's letter explored the pros and cons of the native English teacher scheme in primary schools as proposed in the Chief Executive's Policy Address earlier this year. She concluded that the plan was not perfect and made some suggestions on how to improve education for young children.
In her November 19 letter, 'Irene' succeeded in putting herself in her parents' shoes, and suggested that her peers did the same before they blamed their parents for spending little time with them.
