To sightsee:

Tibet

China is great for sightseeing, but you have to go to Tibet at least once in your lifetime. I went there in 1987 and travelled around for several months. It was very isolated and beautiful; I loved the clear skies and calm lakes. I once went hiking for a day and didn't see anyone - not even a village.

To shop:

Japan and Milan, Italy

I usually go to Japan and Milan three times a year to buy the new season's clothes. I don't go to specific shops - I just look for colourful clothes to wear for parties. The fashion scene hasn't been great in Japan for the past two years; most recently, I only went for three days and could hardly find anything. Milan is much better.

To relax:

Phuket, Thailand

Relaxing trips can be as short as a weekend - you can escape from daily stress for a few days and return home fresh to start work the following week. Thailand is great for this, especially for sunbathing. I usually go to Phuket because I'm familiar with it. The cuisine is so good - even the food sold at street stalls is delicious. I don't recommend Bali, Malaysia or Singapore, however, because I found the food there disappointing.
