Global broadband roaming

HKNet and global roaming provider iPass will offer international broadband roaming - the first such service in Hong Kong.

The service would help corporate users avoid costly overseas dialling charges and establish virtual private network (VPN) sessions with office networks.

The roaming service will cost HK$280 per month and will be available in Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, and the company hopes to launch the service elsewhere.

'The new coverage and technologies allow us to provide remote-access service at overseas Internet hot spots such as hotels, airports and convention centres,' deputy managing director York Mok said.
