Chief Secretary Donald Tsang Yam-kuen has promised to appear before Legco more often than his predecessor, Anson Chan Fang On-sang, according to a legislator. Legco House Committee chairwoman Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee told yesterday's meeting of the committee that Mr Tsang made the pledge during his weekly meeting with her. The Liberal Party legislator quoted Mr Tsang as saying he understood that media briefings by officials were no substitute for their appearing before the legislature. 'He [Mr Tsang] pledges that he will meet legislators more frequently than his predecessor,' Mrs Chow said. Mr Tsang said he thought the Government and the legislature should strengthen their co-operation at a time when they needed to boost public confidence.
