How would you like to remember a memorable moment? Write about it in your diary or video it?
Most likely, you will take a photograph. That has been the most popular way of keeping a record of an occasion for more than 150 years.
The images may mirror the many changes taking place in the world, or could be that one moment in time that the photographer strives for. No matter what image it projects, an expressive picture can touch people's hearts.
Featuring 430 pictures taken by locals, the Vision Beyond - Hong Kong Art Photography, 1900-2000 exhibition shows how society has changed and its impact on people over the past century.
'Photography is a cultural art that reflects the unique characteristics of each place,' said Paul Leung Sai-wah, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, at the exhibition's opening, which runs at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum until May 26, 2002.
Mr Leung said photography also documented the tastes and knowledge of different generations and recorded the development of society and the historical process.
