It is easy to look back and pass judgment on a society with our more enlightened views on community relations.
It is a shame that Hong Kong today has not learned from the mistakes of others and is looking at inflicting the same humiliation on the Thais and Filipinos who work in our city as was inflicted on them in Canada and other nations. The people of Hong Kong will be seen as small and petty if the minimum salary is cut once more for domestic helpers.
Let us show our neighbours that we are a mature city which will protect the most vulnerable segment of our society and not use them as whipping boys for all our troubles.
