Museum workshops are not helping teachers

There are still some things which puzzle me about the museum teacher pass. Teachers can apply for the pass, which entitles them to visit any museums in the SAR in one academic year, provided they attend a 'workshop' and arrange at least four museum visits with their students within the year.

I attended the workshop at Hong Kong Museum of History, on December 27.

It was divided into three parts - a detailed introduction to the exhibition The Hong Kong Story at the History Museum, a visit to the exhibition, and a question-and-answer session regarding the application of the pass.

I understand the aim of issuing the pass is to encourage teachers to arrange more visits for schoolchildren to museums. However, what is the point of the workshop?

Why did I need to listen to a description of the exhibition when my school had already arranged a visit?

If the Leisure and Cultural Services Department aims to encourage teachers to arrange more visits, they should be provided with details of the various museums and told how to go about planning the trips.
