Do you want more freedom from parents and teachers? Writer of December's star letter Jacky Yeung Shing-yam replied with a definite 'yes'. He also understands that his own rights only come with responsibility.
His advice to students? He said they must learn to be self-disciplined and win the trust of others. His suggestion for parents and teachers was that children should be allowed more freedom.
'Freedom brings a lot of benefits,' he said in the Star Letter of December 14. The student from Pui Ying College in Sha Tin explored the dynamics between freedom and responsibility.
'[Students] are encouraged to learn self-discipline, so that they will behave well without guidance.
'If students are given freedom of speech, they can talk about whatever they want. At the same time, it will encourage them to think more about the world and their surroundings.'
