EIDS Solutions Group, a network security enabler formed by a group of local information-technology professionals, claims to have developed the world's first dynamic encryption method that can provide the highest level of security for Internet access.

EIDS chief executive Eugene Zhang said: 'The current encryption technology that the rest of the world is using now is one-way authentication, but ours is a two-way authentication method that has two encryption keys.'

The technology, called interactive dynamic signature (IDS), first requires users to use a password to log on to their hand-held devices such as mobile handsets and pocket personal computers, to authenticate a user's identity.

The IDS system would then generate a second encryption key allowing users to access the mainframe computers or networks, Mr Zhang said.

The two levels of authentication would substantially improve the safety of transmissions as hackers would not be able to use the password to access a network or a system even if they could crack it, EIDS chief operating officer David Pun said.

'The beauty of our technology is that the second encryption keys are one-time passwords. Even if hackers can crack one password, it means nothing to them because they can't use this password to log on to the mainframe computer,' Mr Pun said.

He warned that no security solutions were now safe enough to prevent hackers breaking into networks or systems because all use the static encryption method.
