Airport Authority chief executive officer David Pang Ding-jung attends the opening of the revamped Customer Service Centre at Chek Lap Kok's check-in hall yesterday.
Airport officials have come up with a new way of sweetening the arrival of passengers - free sweets when they hand over their passports for inspection.
From today, bowls of sweets are being put on immigration counters for tourists and visitors to enjoy while their details are checked.
The Airport Authority said the sweets and other improvement measures were intended to bring a smile to passengers and staff and build a stronger culture of customer service.
'The airport is not just about the movement of people and goods,' Mr Pang said. 'It's a service industry that strives to add value.'
Other new features include the installation of three multimedia booths with touch-screen maps. A counter will be opened in the arrivals hall to help passengers locate and book local tours, while a reception area will be set up for mainland tour groups.
