SOME children will be making important career decisions tomorrow.

   Undoubtedly, over the next month, a number of those who attend the Fuji Film International Children's Festival at Kids' World Theatre, in Ocean Park, will decide that they want to take to the stage.

  The rotating schedule of 500 young performers, which Ocean Park has lined up between now and August 30, is as diverse in talent as it is in culture.

  And they are sure to be an inspiration to their peers.

  Of the 27 groups, eight will be from overseas.

   From China comes a Fujian acrobatic group, a puppeteer troupe, and the Nanjin Little Red Flower Art Ensemble.

  The acrobatic troupe was established in 1956 and has implemented a number of cultural exchange activities throughout the world, for both competition and entertainment.

  Performers have visited central Africa, Brazil and Japan.

  The art ensemble comprises children who attend school in the morning and arts training lessons in the afternoon.

  Its repertoire includes both musical instruments and dance performances.

  Australia is sending David Poulton's puppet theatre, a company which has performed for more than 1.5 million people since it was established in 1969.

   David and Sally Poulton cover all forms of puppetry, from intimate theatre to street theatre.

  Belgium's Vendelgroep Uilenspiegel flag-wavers is made up of 28 performers - most of them teenagers.

  The beauty of the group's costumes, and the versatility of its performances, shows off its talents in this novel showpiece.

  Macau Pui Ching Primary School students will stage a clown performance and there will be a Chinese drum dance.

  Rounding off the overseas contingent will be the Rattviks Folkdanslag from Sweden.

   Entertainment from Hongkong will be provided by marching bands, the Chung Ying Theatre Co, the Jean Wong School of Ballet, the Yip's Children's Choir, Looney Tunes cartoon characters, Island Sun Drum, the Qi Troupe performance by the handicapped, the Indian Arts Circle, mime, Hongkong Japanese School, Boy Scout and Girl Guides marching parades, the Dixie Band Show and Eastern District Children's Choir.

  The first performances will be held throughout the day tomorrow, with a scattered schedule and some regular daily performances until August 30.
