AS French Consul General Laurent Aublin flies off today to join his wife Pascale and their three children vacationing in the south of France, he'll be carrying an interesting bit of holiday reading with him. For tucked in his bag will be a book given to him by his neighbour on the Peak, Japanese department store billionaire Kazuo Wada (of Yaohan fame), during one of their friendly chats. Though we doubt whether, up there in the clouds, this kind of chummy activity is undertaken over the garden fence! Mr Wada, whose $85 million home is one of the most expensive in Hongkong, gave Laurent a book authored by him, entitled Yaohan Global Strategy - which doesn't instantly come over as something to keep one transfixed to the deck-chair. But, says Laurent, ''I'm going to be reading it carefully to see if I can pick up some tips on how to get rich''.
